Dexter hosted Ann Arbor Huron on Tuesday at Al Ritt Stadium under what started off as rain and clouds, and finished with sunshine. Unfortunately, both Dexter Boys and Girls came up short in scoring falling 93-44, and 93-42 respectively.
On the track for the boys, the dominant race came in the 800 with a clean sweep. Led by Brandon Anderson winning at 2;20.90, followed by Owen Ackerman in second with a time of 2:07.61, and taking third was Julian Linebaugh crossing the finish line with a time of 2:10.07. In the 400m run, Alex Hoffman was second at 53.39. The distance races had two places each starting with the 1600m. Ackerman placed second again, taking second with a time of 4:39.86, and Caleb Snyder third at 4;41.79. Snyder was also Dexter's top 3200m runner on the day, going 10:20.50, followed by Sam Gibson in third with his time of 10:22.69.
Finishing the track events, Dexter took the top spot in two relays. First, the 4x200 won with Alex Helton, Kyle Sutton, Mason Grann, and Jason Biggs timed at 1:42,31, and the 4x400 winning the last race of the day with Ackerman, Anderson, Linebaugh, and Hoffman running 3;39.60.
In the field events, the Pole Vault took all 9 points available, going 1-2-3. Clark Sheldon won at 13’ 0”, Benjamin Sackman second at 12’ 6” and third was Kaden Korcek at 12’ 6”. In the Shot Put, Cooper Thompson took third with a throw of 38’ ½” and in the High Jump, two Dexter jumpers scored. Ryan Kerr took second at 5’ 4”, and Kyle Gerharter was third at 5 '2 ".
The Lady Dreads had placers in all of the 5 field events, starting with the Pole Vault with another sweep. Debbie McCoy won the day with a vault of 9’ 6” followed by Mikala Sposito in second at 9' 0", and third with a jump of 9’ 0” as well, Bethany Simons. In the Discus, Dexter went 1-2 with Kera Root winning with a throw of 82’ 8”, and teammate Lily Burns in a close second with a throw of 82’ 6”. Burns was also the top Dexter Girls shot putter, throwing 32’ 3 1/2”, taking third place. Larkin Pham was second in the Long Jump with a leap of 13’ 1”, and in the High Jump, Tia Schultz placed third with a jump of 4’ 10”.
Back on the track, in the 100m Hurdles, Kendra Conklin was second with a time of 20.70, and after taking second in the Pole Vault, Sposito was also third in the 200m run with a time of 28.36. Lillian Mitchell was second in the 800m running 2:25.68, and teammate Annabel O’Haver won the 1600m run, finishing with 5:28.47. Wrapping up the running events, Antonia Bruckman was second in the 3200m finishing with a time of 12:37.22, and the Girls 4x800m Relay team won their event with Bruckman, Maddie Rokke-Smith, O’Haver, and Mitchell breaking the tape with a time of 10:03.71.
Dexter takes the rest of the week off and will visit Ypsilanti Lincoln on Tuesday in a SEC Red double dual meet with Saline, and Lincoln.
